One “disaster-resistant” startup business will receive a rent-free year in 3,000 square feet of space in downtown Lansing along with free services like insurance, legal help and IT support by winning a competition.
The Lansing Built to Last competition is aimed at businesses two years old or younger that will “contribute to the economic development of the downtown Lansing area” and are “able to operate physically downtown during the pandemic and after.”
Eligible businesses must require physical space to operate and must be “able to withstand shutdowns.”
The program’s goal is to spur sustainable entrepreneurship in downtown, officials said.
