LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - More affordable housing will be coming to Downtown Lansing.
The Lansing Housing Commission broke ground on two new apartment buildings: Riverview 220 and Grand Vista Place.
Riverview 220 will be built across the street from the CATA Transportation Center on South Grand Avenue. It will provide 56 apartments for low-income families as well as a retail space.
Grand Vista Place will be built just south of Lenawee Street, and will provide 55 more affordable housing units to those in need. Lansing Mayor Andy Schor says it’s all about address an ongoing housing crisis in Michigan.
“It’s exciting that we’re able to add this capacity, to add these units,” Schor said. “We know there are waitlist who want to get into the Lansing House Commission, who want to get into this incredibly important affordable housing.”
Work on both developments is set to begin in late-March, with people being able to rent mid-2026.
