Business of the Month: R.E. Olds Transportation Museum

(Guest Writer: JV Anderton)

The R.E. Olds Transportation Museum is a place frozen in time, preserving and promoting Lansing’s automotive heritage. Ransom Eli Olds, the namesake of the museum, was a Lansing inventor, entrepreneur, financier, and one of Lansing’s most notable automotive leaders.

The museum features Lansing's rich automotive history, including Oldsmobile, the REO Motor Car Company, Fisher Body, and more. Inside you will find over 90 vehicles, ranging from an 1899 Olds Motor Works electric vehicle to an 1985 Oldsmobile prototype- a Cutlass Salon nicknamed “Darth Vader”. Explore engines, automobile accessories, and a few oddities from the REO company such as lawnmowers and children’s trikes!

Looking for a unique place for an event? Both the boardroom and the museum are available to rent and can host intimate meetings, large receptions, lectures, and other gatherings. Stop by for an afternoon of fun today or Save the Date for these special events, including:

  • 4th Annual Lansing Bourbon Fest, Saturday, March 11
  • Spring “Brake” Scavenger Hunt, March 28- April 2
  • Hoods Up, Saturday, May 6
The museum is open Tuesday- Saturday 10 am- 5 pm and Sunday 12 pm- 5 pm, located at 240 Museum Dr. Lansing.
