LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Downtown Lansing Inc. has received over a million dollars from the state of Michigan to make improvements that will hopefully attract young people to move our city and stay here.
“Young people are leaving the state and young people from other places aren’t moving here,” said Ronald Fisher, Professor of Economics at Michigan State University.
Numerous reports have shown that people are leaving the mitten state. Governor Gretchen Whitmer created a Grow Michigan Together Council last summer giving them the task of figuring out what the state can do to grow the population. Ronald Fisher, a council member, said there is a lack of young talent throughout the state.
