Downtown Lansing Inc. remains committed to not only the transformation of our Downtown community, but the ongoing work outlined in our Strategic Action Plan. The goals outlined in DLI’s Strategic Action Plan include a commitment to making Downtown Lansing accessible and open to all, especially in respect to providing programs, spaces, and activities that meet the needs of those who spend time within our borders. That is why one of our top priorities includes the development and implementation of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan. Earlier this year, our staff and board of directors began our work by completing a self-assessment to ascertain our existing position as an organization, as well as our position as a community. This exercise helped us to see where we have work yet to do in making structural change and building a fully inclusive environment. You can view the results of our self-assessment here. As a next step, we are seeking a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant to help us not only ensure that we are building a future for our district that is welcoming and supportive to all, but also to ensure our internal behaviors, policies, and practices are in alignment with our values. If you or anyone you know would like to submit a proposal for this important work, you can view the RFP here.
