Farmers Market at the Capitol returns 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, with additional markets planned Aug. 27 and Sept. 24.
According to the Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA), farmers markets are a staple of downtown Lansing’s summer landscape — where vendors offer vine-ripened produce, jams, flowers, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, and meat, among other options.
MIFMA is a statewide association connecting those consumers to local farms and businesses.
“Farmers Markets don’t just happen,” MIFMA Executive Director Amanda Shreve said in a statement.
“While there is a lot of work that goes in behind the scenes for this event and for all farmers markets, the work is all worth it to connect consumers directly with farmers and food producers, to expand healthy food access, and to grow the economic, health, and community impacts of these marketplaces across Michigan.”
