It’s creature night with Riverwalk Theatre's “The Rocky Horror Show”

Rocky Horror cast on Capitol steps

Act I: Jump to the Left and then to Riverwalk

Fasten your corsets, polish your stilettos and head downtown to the Riverwalk Theatre to enter an iconic realm of madness, a sensational and seductive showing of “The Rocky Horror Show.”

With two separate casts performing shows at 7 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 19-21 and 26-28 (in the interest of keeping one weekend day safe from alien abductions, there are no Sunday shows), the show celebrates all that has made "Rocky Horror" a cult classic.

Now in its 50th anniversary year, “The Rocky Horror Show” is a rock musical telling the story of an ordinary, newly engaged couple, Brad and Janet, who seek help on a stormy night and stumble upon a mysterious castle. Inside, they encounter the eccentric Dr. Frank-N-Furter and a host of bizarre characters. As the night unfolds, the couple becomes entangled in a series of extravagant and sexual awakenings, including the creation of Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s masterpiece, Rocky Horror.

Famous for its exploration of sexuality, identity and rebellion, the audience is encouraged to participate through callbacks, props and dressing up (but no throwing things at the stage — these are live actors, people!). The story blurs the lines between pleasure and pain, reality and fantasy, and challenges societal norms. With memorable rock songs and a show-stopping finale, “The Rocky Horror Show” has seduced audiences for five decades.
