Josh Watson has quickly become a familiar face in Downtown Lansing, bringing people together through service, creativity, and a genuine passion for making a difference. Since getting involved with Downtown Lansing Inc., Josh has served on multiple event planning committees, volunteered at downtown events, and even designed the logo for our new summer initiative, Downtown After 5. Although he’s a transplant to Mid-Michigan, he has fully embraced the region and has become a valued leader and advocate for the downtown community.
As an active member of the DLI Promotions Committee, Josh leads with kindness, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to strengthening Lansing. Whether he’s lending his creative talents, helping shape new projects, or volunteering his time, he consistently goes above and beyond to support Downtown Lansing’s mission.
By day, Josh works in marketing, but his commitment to the community extends far beyond his career. Alongside his partner and family, he helps operate Free Food Farms, a nonprofit based on their five-acre homestead that grows and donates fresh produce to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. He is also a passionate advocate for food equity and believes in creating opportunities that strengthen the community.
This spring, Josh graduated from the Leadership Lansing program through the Chamber alongside Downtown Lansing Inc.’s own Mario Gonzales. His background in video production has given him a unique ability to tell stories that inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact. Whether he’s serving on planning teams, attending community events, or volunteering throughout the region, Josh is always looking for ways to turn great ideas into meaningful action.
Please join us in congratulating Josh Watson as Downtown Lansing Inc.’s July Volunteer of the Month. We are grateful for his generosity, creativity, and dedication to making Downtown Lansing — and the Greater Lansing community — a stronger, more connected place.
