Downtown Lansing Inc. is proud to announce that two beloved downtown businesses were selected to receive highly competitive Match on Main grant funds from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The Lansing Art Gallery and Strange Matter Coffee Company were awarded $25,000 each to support projects that include expansions of their product lines and space. The MEDC Match on Main program strives to provide grants aimed at supporting small local businesses to create resiliency and strengthen downtowns.
“Small businesses help drive Lansing’s economy, so I am always proud to see when they are able to take advantage of funds designed to help them grow. These state dollars will go a long way to help both the Lansing Art Gallery and Strange Matter Coffee with their future plans in the heart of our downtown. Thank you to the MEDC and Gov. Whitmer administration for recognizing that downtown Lansing’s small businesses need support for exciting projects that will keep the capital city growing and thriving” states Mayor Andy Schor, following the recent news that two Lansing businesses were awarded funding through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Match on Main grant program.

MEDC’s Match on Main program provides funding to communities that participate as a select and master level community in the Michigan Main Street program or are a Certified Redevelopment Ready community. The communities, who receive the grant funding from the MEDC, in turn award grants of up to $25,000 to eligible businesses seeking support.
