LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A plan to bring more than 500 housing units to Downtown Lansing is one step closer to breaking ground. On Thursday, the city announced the Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority approved the more than $300 million proposal.
Five sites would be revamped for both residential and commercial space. Those include the Tower on Grand, Washington Square, Capitol Tower, The Ingham Building, and a new building in Old Town.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor said these plans have been in the works for quite some time, and after a lot of behind-the-scenes work, the dream is inching closer to reality.
“We know we want housing, we know we want mixed-income housing and some of this is workforce, some of this is market rate. This checks a pretty big box for us,” said Lansing Mayor Andy Schor.
