For 30 years, the Lansing Lugnuts have been bringing baseball, entertainment and community spirit to Downtown Lansing.
Since their inaugural season in 1996, the Lugnuts have become a downtown staple, welcoming generations of fans to Jackson Field for summer nights filled with baseball, family fun, and plenty of memories. And 2026 has been a milestone-filled year: the Lugnuts played their 4,000th game, celebrated their 2,000th all-time win and welcomed the 1,000th player in franchise history.
The Lugnuts have also helped put Lansing on the baseball map. More than 200 former Lugnuts have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, including original Lugnut Carlos Beltrán, who was part of the team’s first-ever lineup in 1996.
Beyond the ballpark, the Lugnuts continue to be an important part of Downtown Lansing, hosting community events and bringing thousands of visitors downtown throughout the baseball season.
As they celebrate three decades in Lansing, Downtown Lansing Inc. is proud to recognize the Lansing Lugnuts as our October Business of the Month. Here’s to 30 years of baseball, memories and making Downtown Lansing a destination!
