Our September Volunteer of the Month is Nikki Thompson Frazier, owner and founder of Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe. Nikki recently joined DLI’s board of directors but has been part of the great work in Downtown Lansing for many years. She first started as a member of Middle Village, our retail accelerator program. Sweet Encounter was able to grow and graduate from the program to open its first storefront in the iconic Knapp’s Building. Sweet Encounter is a gourmet bakery and cafe specializing in scrumptious, made-from-scratch gluten-free and peanut-free desserts. They also offer vegan desserts. In addition to sweet treats, Sweet Encounter offers culinary cooking classes for kids, teens, and adults, as well as corporate team-building culinary classes and private classes.
Nikki is also co-chairing our first-ever Big Red Ball this December! Thank you for being such a vital volunteer with our organization and providing a welcoming and audacious experience to guests at Sweet Encounter!
