DLI Kicks Off Halloween with Murals, Events

Downtown Lansing Inc. has started the season of chills with the unveiling of new Halloween window murals and a lineup of family-friendly events throughout October.

“Halloween is a magical time in downtown Lansing, with businesses and organizations coming together to offer a variety of events for everyone to enjoy,” said Cathleen Edgerly, executive director of DLI. “We’re thrilled to support our local businesses and invite the community downtown to celebrate spooky season with us.”

Now that fall is upon us, it’s a great time to shop small in downtown Lansing, especially during the upcoming Buy Nearby Weekend! The weekend of Oct. 4-6th is Buy Nearby Weekend, hosted by the Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) to encourage residents to Keep Their Money in Michigan by supporting small businesses and the state’s economy by shopping in their local community. 

Dear Downtown: A Letter From a Resident Who Loves Live Music

Dear Downtown Lansing, 

As a Downtown Lansing resident, it’s been a while since I’ve been within walking distance of a live music venue. I’ll always look back fondly at the many nights spent enjoying concerts at the gone-but-not-forgotten Loft on Michigan Avenue. I think back and smile at the many long days attending and even working the multi-day music festival, Common Ground, at Adado Riverfront Park. Those nostalgic feelings are pleasant in tone, but knowing there’s a new venue in Downtown again – that’s music to my ears.
