Also, as the current cohort is wrapping up, this is the perfect chance to stop in and support them before their next step on their entrepreneurial journey!

Volunteer of the Month: Marcus Martin

This month’s Volunteer spotlight highlights n a volunteer whose dedication to Downtown goes beyond just giving his time—he brings people together, sparks conversations, and supports local entrepreneurs. Marcus Martin has been the emcee of the monthly Downtown Business Huddles since 2022, creating an engaging space for connection and collaboration. Beyond that, he plays a key role in the Middle Village program, helping to review and interview potential participants before they begin their journey. But his support doesn’t stop there.

Dear Downtown Lansing,

If you remember what Michigan Avenue around Larch and Cedar looked like in the 1980s, then you know that city government and good developers can team up to a create miracle.

Forty years ago, the Lansing thoroughfare that dead ends at the state Capitol was dubbed Sin Strip, with adult book stores, porn shops and a topless bar or two. It was a sad entrance to Lansing’s core downtown.

Two new restaurants are coming to downtown Lansing. Here's what we know

LANSING - Two restaurants are expected to open downtown less than a quarter of a mile from one another this year.

Jollof Afro-Caribbean Lounge, a lounge and restaurant serving African and Caribbean dishes, and Sea Level, a fast-casual seafood eatery and bar, will both occupy vacant storefronts on South Washington Square.

March Volunteer of the Month: Erin Robinson

Our March Volunteer of the Month is Erin Robinson! Erin chairs our Business Development Committee that is critical for supporting and communicating with our downtown business owners, as well as working with property owners on new and exciting developments downtown.

Additionally, Erin and her expertise have been instrumental in helping DLI prepare for its upcoming Middle Village cohort this May.

Downtown Lansing Inc. Announces the 61st Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Capitol Lawn Followed by Bunny Hop on the Square Will Take Place on Saturday, April 19

Downtown Lansing Inc. (DLI), the downtown management agency for Michigan’s Downtown, has announced that it will host the 61st Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Capitol Lawn followed by Bunny Hop on the Square on Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the event, the community is invited to come to Downtown Lansing to get candy and treats and enjoy fun activities with Downtown Lansing businesses.
