LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) has selected the 2025 state Christmas tree.

A 68-foot spruce from Sault Ste. Marie was chosen to light up our State Capitol. The DTMB says the tree will be harvested later this month. The spruce will arrive in Downtown Lansing on Saturday, November 1.

October Letter from the Director

Downtown Lansing is on the move — and the momentum is undeniable.

From transformative projects along the riverfront to the incredible energy our small businesses and partners bring every day, we are writing the next chapter of what it means to be Michigan’s Downtown.

When people ask why Michigan’s Downtown, the answer is simple: this is where the story of our state is told — through the people, the history, and the future being built right here in the Capital City.
