As our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the many changes, challenges, and opportunities that have shaped Michigan’s Downtown over the years. Through the years of economic shifts, changing workplace trends, and periods of growth and reinvention, one thing has remained constant – Downtown Lansing continues to stand as the heart of our Capital City.
LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - Lansing is getting ready to “Fiesta” as crews set up for the Lansing Fiesta at Adado Riverfront Park.
The four-day event runs June 18 through June 21 with activities planned Thursday through Sunday.
Organizers say carnival rides are going up now, along with a long list of food trucks and vendors.

LANSING — Kositchek’s men’s apparel store in downtown Lansing will not reopen, the owners announced almost two years after a devastating storm damaged the company’s building.
The roof of the store at 113 N. Washington Square collapsed on July 9, 2024 after a severe storm and heavy rainfall.
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Lansing Housing Commission will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to celebrate the completion of two major housing developments in downtown Lansing.
Combined, the projects add more than 100 apartments to the city, including dozens designated as affordable housing. They are the first new housing developments built by the commission in more than 20 years.
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Lansing’s new Public Media Center and Ovation Center opened Friday in downtown Lansing.
The center is located on South Washington Avenue near the intersection of Lenawee Street.
Officials say the facility will serve as a gathering space for artists, musicians, students and music lovers in the community.

Across each city center, one common theme stood out: thriving downtowns do not happen by accident. They are the result of long-term investment, shared vision, strong partnerships, and a willingness to collaborate across sectors.
